Making Ticino the lifestyle innovation hub of Europe

The Netcomm Suisse event of April 1st, Innovation Meets Fashion brought over 1000 international visitors to Ticino and was just the first in a 5-day series of events dedicated to FashionTech: Fashion Innovation Week

Disruption, fashiontech and innovation: these were the themes behind the Fashion Innovation Week, held from April 1st to 5th in Lugano. During the week, organizer Netcomm Suisse, the Digital and e-Commerce Association, had planned a number of activities to generate value and international interest for the canton and beyond.

An event with one aim: to consolidate Ticino as Europe’s lifestyle Innovation hub.

Over 1000 international visitors attended Innovation Meets Fashion: the main day of Fashion Innovation Week, as well as brands VF, Hugo Boss, Ermenegildo Zegna, Bally, PVH, Giglio Group, Woolrich, Breitling, Golden Goose, Sergio Rossi, Etro, Barneys New York and many others. They were joined by Google, Salesforce, Accenture and other worldwide digital leaders and also by many of the local digital brands and start-ups from Ticino.

During the event, Netcomm Suisse and partner Dagorà SA revealed the opening of the Dagorà Innovation Hub earlier this year. Part co-working, part community-creator, part kick-starter, the Innovation Hub has already been selected as the new home for several international brands, including Accenture Interactive, whose interest in establishing firmer roots in Ticino was explained by Mr. Thomas D. Meyer, Country Managing Director of Accenture in Switzerland. He said, “Being close to our clients, benefiting from local qualified resources and working in a collaborative environment is at the heart of our decision to be present in Ticino. The potential for further customer driven design and experiences is motivating us to work with our clients to make fashion a personal memorable experience for people of all kinds”.

To celebrate the theme of innovation, which is perhaps now the most important reasons why fashion brands are attracted to the Canton, Netcomm Suisse awarded its Fashion Innovation Awards (Corporate Edition) to three brands based in Ticino: VF (winner of the Digital Culture Award); Hugo Boss (winner of the Digital Product Creation Award) and Ermenegildo Zegna (winner of the Artificial Intelligence Award).
